Peterborough Photographic Society

The Peterborough Photographic Society thanks you for your interest!

The Society was formed in 1982 by a group of amateur photographers interested in developing their photographic skills with an opportunity to enjoy the fellowship and support of people with similar interests.  These objectives continue to guide the club.

Our members have diverse backgrounds varying from beginner to professional, use a variety of equipment and are happy to share their expertise with other members. Photographic interests include wildlife, family, street scenes, architecture, vehicles, water, sunsets, contemporary, nature, landscapes and much more.

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month from September through June.  The meetings are normally conducted in two parts.  During the first part, presentations by experienced photographers whether club members or professionals are the main activity.  Following a break for refreshments and socializing, the second part of the meeting is devoted to the showing of members’ images.  Part of the May meeting is reserved for the Annual General Meeting.

They are held at the Lion’s Club Centre located at 347 Burnham Street, start at 7:00 p.m. and end by 9:30 p.m.  If you arrive earlier you may have the opportunity to ask other members questions about camera bodies, lenses or software for editing images.

Twice a month members have an opportunity to get together at a selected venue to photograph subjects of interest.  These outings are diverse and might vary from photographing flowers at a garden centre to photographic scavenger hunts.  They provide members with an opportunity to get out and take some pictures, as well as a chance to learn from other photographers.  The outings are announced at the meetings and in the newsletter as well as the website and on Facebook

Our newsletter, The Viewfinder, is published once a month and is posted to this site about one week before the next meeting. The Viewfinder includes the latest news regarding meetings, outings and other activities as well as various articles of interest to the members and anyone else with an interest in photography.
